My last blogpost

One of the highlights of 2014 for me was the weekends because I had a lot of fun spending time with my family and doing cool activities. Another highlight for me was hanging out with friends and having fun times at camp. I will miss my friends a lot over the summer time because I have spent my whole life them. "adiĆ³s a mis hermanos" Goodbye my brothers.

Tech

On tuesday and thursday mornings the year 7&8 students attend tech at tamaki. There are three tech subjects are materials, graphics and food. Every Tuesday and Thursday we walk down to tamaki to do our tech subject. Our tech teachers are Mr Pineda, Mr Grundy and Ms Heka.

I enjoy going to tech because it gives me a chance to experience different things and have fun at the same time. Walking to tech gives me a chance to properly catch up with my friends. Every week when I walk into my tech class I feel a sense of joy.

My favourite tech subject was hard materials because Mr Grundy is funny and has weird jokes. Mr Grundy is a cool teacher because he has a different approach to teaching. And he also has cool projects.

I think that I have had an amazing opportunity to attend to tamaki to participate at tech. Having this opportunity has helped me succeed through my journey.

Athletic's

As I woke up early in the morning I noticed that there were drops of rain on the window. Would athletics be postponed? I was hoping so...Unfortunately it wasn’t!. Our activities didn’t start until after morning tea I encouraged myself to do it because I knew It was my last athletics at Pt england school.

Our first activity we attended was discus. I knew I wasn’t very good at it so I jumped into the non-competitive line. Our discus superviser was Ms Tito, It was fun having Ms Tito because she taught us a dance. My throw didn’t end up half bad it looked about 10-11 meters I threw it like I was Dwayne Johnson.

Mr Tele'a tatau

Our extension group has been researching the pacific to give us a better understanding of there meaning. I learnt a few new things about the tatau and how it show's what role you have in the family. I also learnt new words like the word va'a which means canoe in the samoan language. In our last extension session Mr Tele'a attended so we could see a tatau in real life so we could make examinations.

In our last extension session Mr Tele'a attended so we could see a tatau in real life so we could make examinations. I found it very interesting on what we were shown, It had incredible detail and structure. Mr tele'a mentioned that the last and most memorable part of the tattoo was the belly button.

The stage I am up to in my project would be creating my tattoo. I have almost finished my tattoo design. I think the finished design will look really good.

Camp

The campsite was called marsden bay christian camp. The grass there was amazingly green and soft. There were a few prickles but it still had nice scenery. They had these cool towering trees.

At camp there was a pretty cool waterslide it was kind of long and high. It went faster than I expected. On my first slide I reached the mud at the end. My favourite form of entry was the dolphin dive.

Another fun activity was surf education. Our instructors names were Chris and nick. Before we did anything they took us on a tour around the clubhouse. Chris took the boys and nick took the girls. We first went up to the lookout and used the binoculars then we went down to see the IRB inflatable rescue boat.

art tangle

This week we have been creating a piece of art from google. This artwork represents infinity there is no beginning and no end. My teacher chose this particular artwork because this term we have combined our class with another class and it would be a great way to start the term with art.

We first searched up a pattern to draw when we all had a day to finish our paper.

Ms Paget gave each of us a piece of paper that had lines. The only instructions we were given was to create a pattern, it could be any kind of pattern. I have created mine and the outcome of it is very good. I cant wait to learn more and create more of our art.\

There was a lot of research that went into the process. Finding a unique pattern was a little bit difficult.

Term 4 reflection

What a surprise to the beginning of the term! Our new topic is Art Attack. Our class has now combined with class 5, it has been a very crazy week since there is 60 students in one class!

The thing I liked about the change would have to be that, the combination of classes. One other thing is that we have most of our friends so we can chill out together. And we have more space to work in.

The thing that we didn't really enjoy is that we have too many people in our class. It also is too loud to concentrate.

Walking into the street I noticed there were a lot of tables in the space. After immersion assembly we walked into the street instead of our classroom and sat in in our house lines. My reaction to the supposedly good “News” wasn't very excited or happy. Personally I dislike the idea of merging classes together.

Cross country

Laying mellow in the shade of the container for my race to begin. Repeating in my head have Trained hard enough. BANG! My nemesis was not only my endurance but my delayed reaction. “Run together aye boys” My peers repeated to each other in an encouraging tone.

Running towards the middle of the course I still felt pumped with energy. As I was jogging I stood on a stick that was pointing out of the ground. Luckily it didn’t pierce my skin.

Feeling puffed I walked for a short distance to build my stamina back up. Putting all my might into running at a speedy pace trying not to deplete all of my energy.

Coming up to the end of the course near the finish line all of us agreed to superman jump over the finish line. Overall the run wasn’t that bad I just got puffed quicker than I expected.

Managing self

For our self management task we had to make an MTV movie. We had to make it about one of Michael Jackson’s Heal the world. A total score I would give my self would be 3 out of 5. although we got job done some of our footage was weird and had green flashes. Our movie is kind of cool to watch. Next time I need to put a bit effort and expression into my scene

The storyline festival

On Thursday last week we went to the storylines fest. If you don’t know what this is it is a festival about authors for kids.

The authors that I thought were funny would have to be Juliette MacIver and Jill MacGregor. I thought Juliette MacIver was funny because the way she came across was a bit odd but overall she was a good author. I enjoyed Jill MacGregor as well because a funny comment she made after telling us a story. “Don’t buy microwave popcorn because its probably contaminated”.

If I were a presenter of the festival I would have the illustrations of the book photocopied and put on the projector so we so we could see the pictures.

If I could ask them a question it would most likely be what process do you have to go through to publish a book.

Mascot

This term we have been learning about mascots. It had to have an iconic figure from New Zealand. We pretended that our mascot will be the next representative mascot for the next commonwealth games for New Zealand.

My Mascots name is Kaiwhakaora O Pounamu. The english translation of this word “Kaiwhakaora O Pounamu” Is Savior of greenstone. I have chosen this name because Pounamu is sacred and is a treasure to the Maori culture. And L and P bottle thrusters with kiwi fruit shoulder armour. And on the chest a Pounamu arc reactor.

Most crime in the world is based on drugs. At the life ed caravan we are learning about different types drugs and what they do to you. Our teacher’s name in the caravan was Lynn she taught us about the importance of not using drugs. We also learnt about code names for drugs

I learnt that marijuana is a gateway drug. A gateway drug is a drug that most people start out on.

Astria Countdown to impact

The Yr 7/8 extension group are testing a new game called Astria Countdown to impact. The most difficult part of the game was the key code. I found the clues easy because the weren't very hard to find. I found all the clues and unlocked the key code. Tomorrows session will be easy because we already know what to do.

Boko Haram

Statement: The group called BOKO HARAM have recently abducted over 200 hundred girls and taken them into hostage. The location of these girls are still unknown. The girls will only be released under treason.

Opinion: I don't think it is very good that the government of Nigeria haven't tried very hard to find these girls. Other countries are working harder to locate the missing girls. It makes me feel bad when you hear all the horrible things.

Fia fia

Walking through the crowd of eager people I pushed my way through. Waiting in line to get some food I also got me some otai. I could hear the hungry audience’s grumbling stomach’s. When I heard Mr Burt on the speakerphone telling performers to go to their changing rooms.

As I watched the performers hungry for attention I wondered if they were nervous or not because they kept such straight faces. My favourite performance was the chinese one. The show they put on was magnificent

After I had finished my performance I wondered if people liked it or disliked it. From the reviews I had gotten it sounded like people liked it.

Isara and Jacob Fat Piggie

Once upon a time, there was a fat pig called Mr Bing.

He lived in a stinky sty in the zoo with piglings. He was able to fly although no one even knew.

But the zoo keepers would give him bad food which would made him do a runny poo.

He was very embarrassed about his problem ,so he flew away and became baalim.

He met a female goddess named Pigthena and had all the food that you could ask for. The End.

Boer War journal

Journal entry-1-day 13.

Food and water here is scarce, and this places weird conditions During the day its like i’m being cooked over a fire and in the night it feels like i’m going to be frozen solid. The terrain here is huge. Living styles here are dreadful any water that is found is very unclean and dirty.

Journal entry-2-day 38

This past week has been horrible unfortunately I fell off of my horse and broke my leg luckily before I was taken to hospital they put a splint on my knee. It was a treacherous 4 days to get to the nearest hospital for medical aid. I wonder why, why did Richard Seddon send us here. I am glad we are helping people but we should have gotten a decent amount of wage and food for the while for when we are here. But no we have dried army biscuits and dirty water, and they have the cheek to ask us to use our additional pay for more food.

Journal entry-3-day 44

Every day that passes makes me feel even more crazy, a few of my friends have just been murdered at battle it is disgusting to see what happens in this place. I was gathering enemy intel yesterday and overheard a conversation they were talking about moving past orange and vile rivers this will be my last journal entry. I will be going to fight in a few minutes.

My goals and avatar

My achievement I was most proud of  last year  in the classroom was competing in the athletics
because I wasn't completely sucky and I enjoyed it for once.

The thing I was most proud of last year outside of the classroom was staying out of trouble and not getting involved in gangs.

In reading my learning goal is to improve and not mumble when I am doing a reading test.

To achieve this goal I need to focus on my work and push my self

In writing  my goal is to write more effective paragraphs.

To achieve this goal I need to practice more often and not cruise through school.
………………..

In Maths my goal is to listen to the teacher and not daydream while instructions are being given

The learning area I think I need to improve in most is maths

In my learning my goal this term is to  show appreciation to my peers and teachers

My goal for this year around the classroom is to improve on my self management

My goal for this year around the school is to use my leadership skills

Writing sample

“ZOOOOOOOM” going 115 km down the highway went a Mustang GT speeding past us, within seconds it was gone. While we were driving my uncle Jarod blasted the music up as high as it would go, passengers in the cars next to us stared at us with a funny look. We drove under a sign that said “Hibiscus Coast 225 m on the right” my uncle flicked the indicators on and steered right. We pulled up to a house and entered.

As we unpacked a strange looking cat walked in and jumped up on the couch I shooed it away but it kept coming back. We walked about a kilometer to get to the beach. I saw a little stream leading to the ocean I sat down beside it and wondered what I could do with it so I decided to build a dam made of sand. First I dug a deep well so the water would flow into it so it would give me some time to get dry sand to make the dam. I got a bucket of dry sand and poured it on the dry side of the well. I pushed sand in the well so the water would hit the dam. My Plan failed  horribly.

On the third day we went to waiwera thermal resort for the day it was fantastic. I went on the slides more than swimming in the pools. I also liked going in the lazy river. My cousin and thought it would be funny to go on the little kids slide and splash all the people in the little pool it was funny. After a fun day we left on the way back we stopped by this amazing beach and went snorkeling.

On the last day we went to Goat Island. I ran to the the rock and bombed off of it with my snorkel as I looked through the amazing paradise filled ocean I noticed an odd object I thought it was an inanimate object until I saw a tail. I stared at it and realised it was a stingray I panicked and swam to shore. I found an awesome looking stone on my travels along beach.

W.A.L.T

While I was walking to school on Monday I was extremely nervous because I didn't see one student at all. I was beginning to think that I was walking to school on the wrong day. I arrived at school and no one was there. I sat on a park bench and waited. In the corner of my eye I saw a red uniform I looked to the side and realized it was Jonathan. I cheered up and walked with him into the front gates.
